Position Summary:

RedRock is looking for a motivated and energetic individual who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves to help the success of a growing company. We have an exciting available opening for the Assistant Controller position. Reporting to the company’s VP Finance & Accounting, this position is responsible for executing all of the Company’s accounting and finance functions. These functions include establishing and accurately maintaining the Company’s accounting records, principles, practices, and procedures as well as preparing and analyzing financial reports, and presenting any findings and recommendations to management. In performing the duties of the Assistant Controller, the right individual must be able to demonstrate expertise in a wide variety of business concepts, practices and procedures.

Specific Duties:

Maintain the Company’s general ledger and all supporting schedules and sub-ledgers; accurately prepare and maintain the related supporting documentation and journal entries as well as any required calculations and reconciliations
Timely and accurately prepare all monthly financial statements and reports including the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close
Prepare for and assist with annual financial review by outside audit firm
Review and oversee the Accounting department staff’s general accounting work, including draws, the recording and processing of accounts receivable and accounts payable, and general ledger postings for individual construction jobs
Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure timely cash collection
Make timely payments of all debt, real estate taxes, insurance, distributions and other time sensitive payments
Review jobs for accurate cost estimates (ECAC) and proper revenue recognition
Supervise and review all aspects of Accounts Payable and the transactional processing of payment for any credit cards, expense reimbursements, and related items
Supervise and review all aspects of Accounts Receivable and the transactional processing of cash receipts
Review preparation of quarterly and annual sales/use tax returns
Document various policies, procedures, and guidelines
Ensure internal control processes are followed. As necessary, design and enhance internal control procedures and oversee their implementation
Oversee weekly office payroll; oversee compliance and processing of Certified Payroll and union reporting; keep updated with changing regulations regarding Payroll, Unions, and Compliance
Review continuous improvement of procedures and implement efficiencies
Manage, mentor, and train Accounting staff members

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited university
Solid knowledge of construction accounting with a strong understanding of project cost control, percentage of completion (ASC 606) and expense recognition
Minimum of 7 years’ experience in accounting with proven track record of career progression within an accounting department
CPA a plus, but not required
Demonstrated ability to resolve accounting issues timely and accurately
Solid knowledge of internal control functions and documentation
Knowledge of applicable laws, codes and regulations
Knowledge and experience with corporate accounting systems; ComputerEase software familiarity very beneficial
Advanced working knowledge of Excel
Ability to lead a dynamic and growing team
Strong leadership in creating a healthy, positive culture throughout the organization
